Warranties FAQS

Hassle Free Warranties with a Flexible Claims Process

It is important to us at West Heath Motors that you get the support you need should a problem arise with your vehicle.

Although your car is second hand, it is new to you. We've prepared your car to a high standard, however we all know that faults can arise, so it's important to us you have a warranty in place that offers appropriate cover. Our warranty will give that little extra protection from the unforeseen when you need it and help provide you with the level of service you expect from us.

Here's a few FAQs you may find useful, feel free to call us for further information.

I have a problem with my car, should i bring it back to you?

If you are local it makes sense for you to bring the car back to us to get it fixed, but if you have a preferred garage you would like to use instead then we're happy for you to take it there. If you'd like us to take a look, call us on 0121 4584031 and we'll arrange to have the car in for diagnosis and rectification.

What if i have a problem with my car and i'm not local to you?

If you have a preferred garage you trust that is closer to where you are located, then we're happy for you to take it there. If you're unsure what to do, call us and we will provide assurance.

What if i don't have a preferred garage and i need my car looking at?

In that case we will find a reputable garage in your area for you. We will contact that garage on your behalf, describe the fault and explain the warranty terms. We will then call you back with a name, location, and telephone number so you can make a booking.

How do i make a claim on my warranty?

Simply take your car to your chosen garage for a diagnosis, they can then contact either our warranty company or us for advice. As soon as the garage has provided us with a correct diagnosis and reasonable quotation West Heath Motors or the warranty company will authorise the claim. For your peace of mind the garage will be paid direct as soon as the work has been completed and we have been sent a VAT invoice, so you're free to drive away within a reasonable timeframe.

We are happy to adopt whichever process of communication that is most convenient for you. We're happy to undertake the work ourselves, speak direct with the garage you're using, and speak with the warranty company. We all know that good communication helps any situation a great deal, and most importantly it will get you back on the road faster. If you think you may have a problem with your car call us without hesitation, or call in and we'll determine what's up.

What parts are covered and excluded under the terms of your warranty?

A full list of parts covered, and exclusions, is available in the showroom, or if you would like this emailed or posted then we'll be happy to send one over. Your warranty covers parts, labour and VAT. For further clarification please feel free to call a member of our team  on 01214584031.

Does a garage have to provide a warranty by law?

No, a garage isn't required to provide a warranty in with the sale of a used car by law. If a garage offers you a warranty included in with your vehicle purchase this then offers extra protection and is in addition to the customers consumer rights (CRA2015). If a garage doesn't include a warranty in with the purchase then consumer rights will still remain. We consider it good practise to give our customers a warranty inclusive with each purchase as it offers extra protection. Your warranty will cover many aspects of your vehicle that wouldn't otherwise be covered, and those which may be regarded as fair wear and tear.

I've had remedial work carried out on the car I bought from you and paid for the work myself, can I get the money back?

It is quite likely we will be able to get you reimbursed in full, however this is not always the case. For example, if the warranty company calculates that you were overcharged for the work, unnecessary work was carried out, or the remedial work did not fix the problem, they will only pay you what they consider to be a reasonable sum, so you could be out of pocket. It is very important your chosen garage contacts the warranty company, or us at West Heath Motors, before you have a diagnosis and/or remedial work carried out.  The warranty company are experts in their field and know what work is required to fix a particular fault, and what it should cost to put it right on your car. Please contact them or us as soon as you are aware of an issue, this situation can then be avoided.

For your peace of mind you get a comprehensive warranty already included in with the purchase of your vehicle.
